Is this supposed to be inspired by Islamic architecture? Looks like it’s taking influence from Ali’s shrine in Najaf.

Albert Camus, 50 years on: Prince of the absurd

Link: Albert Camus, 50 years on: Prince of the absurd

maysamtaher:

“Camus left Algeria for mainland France, but Algeria never left him. As the anti-colonial rebellion took hold in the 1950s, his refusal to join the bien pensant call for independence was considered an act of treason by the French left. Even as terror struck Algiers, Camus was vainly urging a federal solution, with a place for French settlers. When he famously declared that “I believe in justice, but I will defend my mother before justice,” he was denounced as a colonial apologist. Nearly 40 years later, Mr Lenzini tracked down the Algerian former student who provoked that comment at a press conference. He now confesses that, at the time, he had read none of Camus’s work, and was later “shocked” and humbled to come across the novelist’s extensive reporting on Arab poverty.”

If one wants to know why and how the conflict started in Palestine more than 60 years ago, the “confessions” of Israeli and Zionist leaders should make it very clear.

You know what a shawarma is?

Shawarma is of Turkish origin, also, it’s not really authentic Middle-Eastern food! Toronto has to have the worst shawarma. They attempt to hide the dry chicken taste by putting garlic sauce, tahini sauce (which only belongs in beef shawarma and falafel) and hot sauce. Hot sauce? What???

The shawarma is the best thing known to people living in the Middle East.

Any other arguments are rendered invalid. Your attempt to retaliate is considered futile.

Authentic shawarma from the middle east, that is.

Not the impostor wraps sold around here.

I’m sorry but it’s true.

Real shawarma is NOT DICED INTO TINY PIECES USING SCISSORS! IT IS FINELY SLICED USING SPECIAL CARVING KNIVES!

IT IS NOT WRAPPED IN PITA BREAD! KOBUS BREAD!!!

UNLESS IT IS MALGHOUM, YOU DO NOT PUT CHEESE ON IT!

AND IF YOU DO PUT CHEESE, YOU DON’T PUT THAT FAKE YELLOW, TASTELESS LIQUID LABELED ‘CHEESE’

YOU DO NOT PUT JUST ANY WHITE SAUCE ON TOP. TAHINI SAUCE, DAMMNIT!

NO ONIONS EITHER! THE ONLY SHARP TASTE MUST COME FROM THE MARINATED MEAT ITSELF!

LAST, BUT NOT THE LEAST, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE CHOICE BETWEEN CHICKEN OR BEEF SHAWARMA!

CAPS LOCK USED TO EXPRESS MY RAGE AT THE WRAPS THEY SELL HERE THAT GIVE REAL SHAWARMA A BAD NAME!

I’M LOOKING AT YOU, CERVINI CAFETERIA!
Middle Easterns unite :))
Authentic shawarmas you get on the streets of Bahrain FTW!
dunno why you’d put tahini on it when you could put toum.

Dr. Mads Gilbert visits Ryerson University on Wednesday, January 20th at 7:30pm.

Internationally acclaimed Doctor, professor, and local politician Dr. Mads Gilbert who tours North America to share his experiences during the Israeli offensive on Gaza, “Operation Cast Lead”. This tour takes place approximately one year after 1300 Palestinians perished and thousands more injured under the Israeli attacks denounced as war crimes by the United Nations Human Rights Council under the infamous Goldstone Report.

Dr. Gilbert, on behalf of the Norwegian Aid Committee, was one of two foreign doctors allowed in the Gaza strip during “Operation Cast Lead”, working days and nights at the busy and over-crowded Al-Shiffaa Hospital. While Gaza was under siege with no media or medical aid allowed to enter, Dr. Gilbert emerged as the mainstream face in keeping the world informed of the ongoing atrocities. In fact, his testimonies were broadcast worldwide on ABC, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CBS, CNN and more.

Dr. Gilbert recently published his new book “Eyes in Gaza” with co-author, Dr. Erik Fosse, the second foreign doctor who was permitted into Gaza during the offensive. The book has already been released in Norwegian and will soon be published in English. Before the release of “Eyes in Gaza” in English, Dr. Gilbert has decided to take the time to embark on a North American tour sponsored by SPHR in order to continue sharing his experiences and the stories of Palestinians who suffered under Israeli siege and shelling. This is a story often untold and his medical expertise will shed light on the reality of the situation.
